Connections Youth Group
Connections, the Resource Center Youth Group, helps young people, ages 13 to 18, who are trying to come to terms with their sexuality in a sometimes unaccepting society.
Friendship, acceptance, and access to accurate information and potential resources can be of immense help to a young person. We seek to provide such help through information, referral, sharing, and regular get-togethers. Connections meetings are an opportunity to meet and share with other gay, lesbian, bisexual, questioning, or allied teens in a safe environment. We strive to provide activities which meet the needs and interests of everyone involved in the group.

We provide..
- A place to have fun and meet people
- A place where your individuality and suggestions are respected
- An environment where you can feel safe and can discuss anything in confidence
- A place for support, education, social activities and outreach
Our facilitators are trained adults who provide a safe, supportive environment where young people can come together to learn and share in an atmosphere of acceptance. They are people who have been in the same place as you. All facilitators are LGBTQ or allied adults who are over the age of 25 and have been subject to a Michigan background check. If you would like to volunteer as a facilitator, please contact the KGLRC at 269.349.4234.
Meetings are held weekly on Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m. The location is kept confidential; in order to find out the location, please call or email the Resource Center.

Triangle Mentorship
The mentorship program pairs an LGBTQ adult and an Ally adult with an Ally or LGBTQ youth. The goal of the mentorship is to provide these youth with mentorship and career guidance and advice. The mentors and mentees meet on their own once a month, and quarterly with all parties in the program. For more information on the mentorship program, please email [email protected].

It Gets Better Project
While many of these teens couldn’t see a positive future for themselves, we can. The It Gets Better Project was created to show young LGBT people the levels of happiness, potential, and positivity their lives will reach – if they can just get through their teen years. The It Gets Better Project wants to remind teenagers in the LGBT community that they are not alone — and it WILL get better.
